Thesis Statement:   Amelia Earhart is known today for her vast accomplishments in the world of aviation as the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and beyond. .

I. Introduction:

  A. Attention Material:   Courage, unwavering vision, groundbreaking achievements, both in aviation and for women, are just a few of the things Amelia Earhart was widely known for. She was known as being a pioneering symbol for women worldwide. Earhart will forever be remembered for her determination to pave the way for women to be accepted in jobs mostly male-oriented.
  B.   Credibility Material:   Through my research I learned that Amelia Earhart was a tomboy, but a determined woman who traversed gender obstacles that made her a symbol in American History. Amelia Earhart was not only the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic, but she also flew solo on other occasions and set several air records.
  C. Relevancy Material:   By knowing her history, I as an American and a woman can understand and appreciate the fight that women of that time tolerated to set records and to be great symbols in American History for others to follow.
  D. Preview of Main Points:   Amelia Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Amelia Earhart’s daredevil attitude toward flying and her conduct paved the way for women to challenge themselves in the 20th century.
