I will also compare and contrast the differences between the General Management (GM) positions within the two industries. Next I will analyze and describe the growth in overall employment within these two industries and how this overall growth is forecasted within the next ten years. Lastly, I will recommend at least three (3) human resource practices in which each industry can better recruit and retain management talent for their respected industry.

After looking at both websites I noticed that the lodging and food and beverage department offers various management positions. The General Manager of an establishment is responsible for providing owners with a reasonable return on investment, keeping guests satisfied and returning and also keeping the employees happy (Walker, J. R., 2013 pg. 93). The Front Office Manager (FOM) is responsible for enhancing the guests experience by constantly developing services to meet guest needs (Walker, J. R., 2013 pg.98). The Food and Beverage Manager is in charge of the kitchen, catering and banquet staff along with the restaurants, room service and mini bars. The F&B Manager also takes care of the lounges, bars and stewarding.
