  I. INTRODUCTION
    Encephalopathy means disorder or disease of the brain. In modern usage, encephalopathy does not refer to a single disease, but rather to syndrome of global brain dysfunction; this syndrome can be caused by many different illnesses. The most common cause of hypertensive encephalopathy is abrupt blood pressure elevation in the chronically hypertensive patient. The fact that hypertensive encephalopathy is a rare complication caught the student’s interest. Hypertensive encephalopathy can cause many complications. Complications like coma, stroke, nephropathy, myocardial infarction and retinopathy occur if this is not adequately controlled. Adequate treatment of hypertension, as well as increased emphasis on blood pressure control and lifestyle factors, may improve the risk profile of most aforementioned complications. In the developed world, hypertension is the most significant cause of adult myocardial infarction, peripheral vascular disease and death. This nature initiates the curiosity to dig in deeper into the care of its mechanisms, and explore this topic.
    In 1928, Oppenheimer and Fishberg introduced the term hypertensive encephalopathy to describe the encephalopathic findings associated with the accelerated malignant phase of hypertension. Hypertensive encephalopathy describes the transient migratory neurologic symptoms associated with the malignant hypertensive state in hypertensive emergency.
