Week 9 Capstone
It is extremely important for a security officer to know their particular target environment so they can point out the areas that are in greater need adding more people, or equipment so the area can be safe. In other words how can security professionals protect a target environment when they have no clue of what is going on, or what they are protecting? They have to secure the area by know the entrance, exits, perimeter, location, and number of employees. Having this type of knowledge will help when they are watching the surveillance cameras. This would let them know who is supposed to be in certain designated areas. Having a plan is very important when it comes to securing any target. No question is a dumb question. In order to do your job doesn’t be afraid to ask questions. I would rather be safe than sorry for having too much information than not enough so that the job can be done. You are there to do a job that includes servicing, and protecting the target environment.
I do not think it is a drawback for security professionals approaching another type of environment for the first time, because each environment or target will not always be the same. They can use some of the gathering of information on the target environment and see the best way to secure it in the same manner. The security guard has to be open to change and want to learn new things. If an officer receives a new assignment which is not like the last one they should be properly trained so it will benefit everyone.
