My Life Experience
I, as a nineteen year old man, have many life experiences that shaped me to be who I am today, but the life experience that I am going to share with you through this paper I believe is to be one of the most important to me. This may even be expected by many, but a big part that took place in my life that made me who I am today is the invigorating sport of football.
I think I almost shit my pants… I had never felt this way before in my life. The year was 2005, I was 11 years old and I was walking into my house to see my dad sitting at the old wooden table. He told me to come over to him and that he needed to talk to me. He said, "Son, I signed you up to play football." I was surprised and didn't know what to think. I mean, was I good enough to play football? Was I experienced enough? I wasn't sure. Due to the fact that I didn't really have a choice, I went with it. When the day came for me to actually step foot on the field, I was apprehensive. I was so nervous, I didn't know what to think, what to do, how to feel, if I would fit in and be able to run all the plays accurately, I was scared. I was so nervous, that even put my cleats on the wrong feet. I got out of my dad's 2003 black Lincoln navigator, with all my gear on, my helmet, my shoulder pads, and my cleats now put on the right feet. I walk down the field, the hot Florida sun beating down on my head, the burnt, green grass crunching beneath my feet. Nothing but third-graders, fourth-graders, and probably even some fifth-graders running around on the field right in front of me. My coach yelled, "Everybody come over here and huddle up!" The whole team scurried over to the coach and we all took a knee. I was fearful for reasons being that I wasn't sure how this was all going to play out, and plus there were a multitude of the fire ants all over the ground, which didn't make it any better.
