Is Graffiti an Art or a Crime?
          If you walk down through Beirut streets, you will see beautiful drawings on public walls. These drawings can be for famous people, and important figures in the society, or expressing certain issues like: drug addiction, smoking, drinking, and rape. This type of drawing is called Graffiti. Graffiti has been present from a long time ago since the ancient times, where people use to draw using different colors on walls in public places. Although Graffiti is expressed in public places without the permission of the owner, Graffiti usually represents beautiful pictures which allow it to be classified as one of the arts rather than a crime.
        Graffiti is one of the most amazing arts where artists show high professionalism and knowledge in drawing such pictures. Graffiti is the same as many arts like singing, dancing writing, and other types of drawing. In all of these arts, there is a certain message the artist aim to send it to the audience. Similarly in graffiti, it intends to send a certain message usually to people in the society about a certain issue in our daily life. Usually artists deal with sociological problems like drug addiction where they usually draw people taking drugs, and sexual problems like rape. By high lightening these problems we are giving attention to them and make people aware and put an end for these issues that are threatening our society. So, it plays an important role in the society as a mean of communication between different people, and as a strong message that influences both political and economic level.
        "How can you say it is an art and it is drawn on public walls without permission?" This what will most people in our society say. As know that using the walls of other people without their permission is considered vandalism, but this can't allow us to consider it as a crime as it shows high level of creativity.
