Why Music Education is Important to Me
Imagine a world deprived of music; it would be an extremely boring and quiet place to live. Music is found in every kind of culture and has been used for many years as a means of expression. Music is important in education for many reasons. Recent studies have proven that having music programs at a young age helps a child to achieve academic success and helps students to become more disciplined throughout their school years. Students who participate in music education programs such as orchestra, both marching and concert band, or choir are less likely to be involved in harmful activities like drugs and alcohol. Music provides students with the opportunity to be expressive, creative, and original, and can also provide a better understanding of different cultures. Music is found in every kind of culture and has been used for many years as a means of expression. It can deliver a message; be used as transportation for poetry; appreciated for its artistic qualities, or function as nothing more than pure entertainment.
Throughout the past few years it has been verified that starting a music education program at a young age helps students to do well in other areas of school. Music helps children to develop better speech skills by teaching them to listen to the greater details of the way things sound.
Therefore, if music education did not exist, many people will be out of a job and children would not learn anything in music and when the next generations are ruling the world, music would be a rapidly depleting resource. Now, imagine a world deprived of music; that’s what the it would be like without music education. It’s importance is greater than any person could imagine.
