(CBA) Korean War
Korea was ruled by Japan for more than 30 years. Japan lost control when World War 2 ended. At this time the conflicted started because Soviet Union took control of North Korea and established Kim ll Sung to rule over North Korea. United States took control of South Korea and established Syngman Rae to rule over it. Soviet Union and United States created the 38th parallel that divided Korea into too sides, North and South. On June 25, 1950 the Korean War begun when 75,000 North Korean soldiers crossed the 38th parallel to invade South Korea. Their plan was to take control of South Korea and make it a communist country.
If one country becomes communist then another country will follow then another to the point where the whole world is communist. It’s called the domino theory where someone is doing something you are. One example is when North Korea looked at Soviet Union and wanted the same thing but wanted all of Korea to be communist. This also caused the United States to get involved to stop the Domino Theory.
Another cause if the Korean War was the 38th Parallel, which separated North and South Korea which was created by two tired colonels. “The choice of the 38th parallel, recommended by two tired colonels working late at night proved to be fateful” (Dean Rusk). The 38th parallel was approved by the Soviet Union, the states and the war department.
Communism is a big reason of the Korean War that is the main reason United States got involved with the Korean War. President Truman said “Communism has passed beyond the use of subversion of conquer independent nation and will now use armed invasion.” What Truman is saying is that communism has gotten to the point where using words isn’t enough and that’s when action need to be taking with the use of military and weapons. This is the main reason why Truman decided to help out South Korea.
Korea is still divided to this day and communism...
