Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 vs. Battlefield 3
When thinking about video games many things come to mind. One might think of Mario or Zelda, Nintendo or Xbox. In more recent years however, most people tend to think of looking down the sights of a gun pointed at that oh-so-nasty bad guy. The first person shooter is the most popular of video game genres, and with November- and its new releases- fast approaching, there is only one thought in the mind of every true gamer: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3. Ever since Activision’s Call of Duty was released in 2003, taking the war FPS scene by storm and effectively killing EA’s Medal of Honor series, Activision and EA have been in a vicious battle for domination and bragging rights over the best combat based video games. Over the past years many good games have come out, and were all soundly beaten into submission by that year’s installment of the Call of Duty series, and this year will be no different.
MW3 will, as all CoD games before it, have an incredibly epic and thrilling campaign. Building on the story of previous titles, MW3 promises exciting familiarity and progression from where MW2 left off- Washington D.C. in ruins, the heroes stranded in a desert, the New York City skyline burning as all out World War 3 rages with Russia. Fans are no strangers to violent, intense storylines that hold you on the edge of your seat and this type of action is what keeps people coming back for more of the Call of Duty series.
Also featured in Modern Warfare 3 is an entirely new multiplayer system that only adds to the great multiplayer experiences of previous titles. New killstreak rewards encourage teamwork as opposed to the lone gunman approach, and many a hour can be spent on the several new gameplay modes like Team Defender or Kill Confirmed.
