Art Museum Paper
The first piece of art I chose was an sculpture named Pieta made in Spain in the year of 1725 by an unknown artist who wasn’t placed on the ID card by the sculpture that briefly explain the piece. This piece was made out of polychromed plaster, gesso-or glue- soaked fabric, wood, glass. And other materials. The size of this piece was medium and the style of this art was European. The second piece of art I chose was an painting named a Pied Myna by Abil Khan, who was from India in the early 19th century. The painting was made in India, West Bengal, and Kolkata( Calcutta) in the year of 1810. This piece was made out of opaque watercolor and ink on paper. The size of this art piece was an small piece inside the frame and the style of this art was Indian. Both art pieces were found in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. I chose both art pieces because they both caught my attention when I walked by them. The art pieces interested me because I was able to feel or understand what the art is trying to tell me. Which made me stop and go back in order for me to analyzed both pieces better. Both pieces have an unique style and meaning that the artist of the art wants the audience to see and understand.
The Pieta was an biblical scene that represented the love Mary had for her son Jesus after his crucifixion. The meaning of this piece is to show much concern and Mary had for her son Jesus after watching him being beating and holding him at the end of it because of the people who all wanted him to die. The symbol of this art is the passion Mary showed by holding Jesus wounded body after his crucifixion. This piece is consider under the art and religion theme because the man that Mary is holding is her son Jesus. It’s classified under the Christian faith because it’s the core of our faith. This piece explain and shows him dying for us and our sins. The crucifixion was way before the time the sculpture was made....
