What do you think of when you hear "deep"? A well, the sea, weather, a pit - Tartarus maybe, a voice, a thought, what?
Well, instead of answering that most likely rhetorical question with something amazing and innovative, let's just keep it simple go with Tartarus. This place represents maybe chaos or darkness - what? idk for sure I'm not a freaking tartarologist, I don't even like tartar sauce - so from there we can move on to some branch of mythology - pretty sure its Greek or Roman. I know more greek so let's go with that. So you have Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, Hera, and all those gods for simple things in the world, and then there's also the titans which are kind of repetitive, and then finally there's Gaea and Ouranos (i think). So Gaea is nature, right? and you have Ouranos who's this dumb sky person (oh shoot none of you are like still worshiping these guys are you - I think it died out) who becomes "ruler of the world". Gaea just goes along with it and procreates resulting in a bunch of little titans and cyclopes who kill Ouranos - the sky (ok maybe it wasn't the sky) is dead. Chronos and some girl breed the 3 major gods who do stuff and whala everything's done and you have a bunch of major and minor gods and a few billion bastard children. Then everyone goes to war and blah blah blah - Gaea does nothing. The Gods win and restore peace (maybe that never happened - I'm assuming everything in Percy Jackson happened k?) and more or less bring order. Gaea then decides at this peaceful time to open doors of death and completely annihilate the communities in that world - causing utter chaos. She plays around a bunch (and now going past the current books available) and then gets tired of it and just kills all the demigods Percy and all. Gaea goes to sleep for another...nonillion years and during that time, good and evil continue to fight - this maintains the natural state of chaos. Chaos is nature, and nature is chaos.
