People might go here just to boost their ego or learn how to fight and calm their ego, but for me, it’s a place of sanctuary where I can relieve stress and calm my mind. It’s a place where I can call everyone my “family”, always helping me out and helping me better myself.
The first day can always be intimidating or nerve-wrecking for anyone. I mean who doesn’t get nervous on their first day, but as you get to know people everything just falls into pace. Every day, I see different types of people come in for different reasons, and for some reason it’s really interesting watching new people doing something for their first time. It’s also fun to watch people with their egos way too high come in thinking they are better than everyone and then get destroyed, so people have to understand that they have to come in, calm their ego, expect to lose, and just have fun.
Going here kept me disciplined and out of trouble. I would have to maintain an A or higher in order to go to the gym, and that would be the only thing that actually made me try in school. Right when school ended, I would go straight there, do my homework, and start doing what I had to do. The people that I met helped me a lot with basically everything; I started looking at life differently. It’s crazy how out of everybody, these people are the nicest and the most humble people you’ll meet.
Going to this gym was a life-changing experience for me. It really has taught me a lot and really changed me as a person. It helped me physically and mentally, helping me become more disciplined and mature. The gym really helped me stay out of trouble, so if I would never have done martial arts, then I don’t know where I’d be right now.
