“It is an undeniable fact that religion is one of the most important cornerstones of all     human societies. The way a society regards raising the next generation is reflected first and foremost in its education system.”
This statement highlights factually that religion does play a significant role in the life of all human beings especially those who go through a structured system of formal education. Religion has undoubtedly impacted and heavily influenced the form and content of education as we have known it in the past and to some extent today. Adults and students alike must be objective in their belief as it relates to both the positive and negative impact of religion and its influence in school. Religion represents itself in a myriad of positive outcomes as well as negative outcomes.
Dictionary.com defines religion as “a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as a creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.” This goes to show that religion is without a doubt an important aspect of a human beings life and will prove to be very effective in the grooming and development of young children. As stated above by Dictionary.com, it is through the devotional exercises and ritual observances that children’s ethos are fostered and geared positively throughout school. Individuals-atheists-regards Religion in school as a means to control and manipulate young minds into controlled behaviors. However, arguments from different theorists and studies conducted worldwide will prove otherwise and in turn show how religion have and continue to impact children positively.
