Shrew is a woman of violent temper and speech. In the film the Taming of the Shrew Katharina was the shrew from the beginning of the movie. Kate was different than the others. Kate spoke her mind which in that time was not common. The play was entertaining. Kate’s husband Petruchio was a very demanding man. He wants what he wants and wants all to obey him. Kate seemed to be a shrew because of life. Because she is outspoken and will not be controlled by any man no man wanted to be with her and yet everyman seemed to want her sister. Her father seemed to want to pass her on but no one would even think about being with her. No one saw her beauty because of the anger she always showed. She refused to be with any man because the men refused to be with her.
Kate didn’t want to get married. She was going to ruin the whole arrangement. She was planning on saying she would not marry Petruchio but she stopped her with a kiss. Kate went along with the marriage and tried to enjoy herself by making the house her home. Petruchio didn’t like the idea the Kate was running the show so he ruined it by destroying everything she got. He wanted to be in control. He wanted to be the king of the household and everyone should obey him. That was how it was back in those times and the play really shows that.
Kate realized the Petruchio wants to be in control and wants her to agree with everything he says and does even if it is not the truth. Kate agreed with the time of day to make him happy. She agreed a man was a woman and apologized for her mistake when he told her she was wrong. Kate realized that in order to get her way he had to get his. Before she said “my tongue will tell the anger of my heart, or else my heart concealing it will break” and now she says “Then God be blessed, but sun it...
